Generous parents and friends helped Manor House School to raise more than £3,000 for charity in 2008/9.
The school held a series of successful fundraising events throughout the year.
These included a non-uniform day in aid of Lepra, which raised more than £1,300. During the day, pupils and staff took part in dance workshops, to raise awareness of the difficulties faced by leprosy sufferers.
The school also collected an impressive £947.55 for Comic Relief. Pupils went on a fancy dress treasure hunt and were given the chance to ‘soak the teacher’.
Other fundraisers included a Macmillan coffee morning, a Pre-Prep nativity play in aid of LOROS, and a Senior School carol service collection, which was divided between LOROS and St Helen’s Church.
The school also collected £77.14 from the sale of poppies to mark Remembrance Day.
Linda Wordsworth, Deputy Headteacher, who was soaked in aid of Comic Relief, said: “In spite of being a small school, Manor House School raises an impressive amount of money for charity.
“The children enjoy taking part in fundraising activities and are encouraged to think about people who are less fortunate than themselves.”
