Mini Superheroes Go on Treasure Hunt for Comic Relief
News article submitted on 19th March 2009, 13:08
A treasure hunt for miniature superheroes helped to raise more than £800 for Comic Relief at Manor House School.
The school's youngest pupils, aged four to seven, dressed as their favourite superheroes to take part in the Red Nose Day treasure hunt.
Batman, Spiderman, Wonderwoman and cartoon favourite Ben 10 were among the superheroes to try their luck in the charity hunt.
The treasure hunt was just one of many red-nosed fundraisers at Manor House School to mark Red Nose Day on 13 March.
Three older pupils - Tristan Griffiths, 15, and Thomas Griffiths and Barney Such, both 14 - had their legs waxed to do 'something funny for money.'
Meanwhile, staff and pupils bought red-nosed cakes, guessed the name of the bear, identified staff from their baby photos, and paid to give teacher Linda Wordsworth a good soaking.
Mrs Wordsworth said: "I asked the pupils if they had any ideas for Comic Relief and they decided that they wanted to soak me! I got very wet - but it was all in a good cause!"
Staff and pupils also paid £1 to come to school in fancy dress.
