Where the Art is
News article submitted on 18th June 2009, 13:17

An eye-catching exhibition of artwork – featuring everything from Egyptian pyramids to rock band Motley Crue - will go on display at Manor House School next week.

Pupils have created an impressive gallery of water colours, pencil drawings, collages and other pieces as part of their GCSE coursework.

This year’s themes are ‘Journeys’ and ‘Natural versus Manmade’.

Pupil Barnaby Such, 15, used his love of music festivals as the inspiration for his GCSE piece. It incorporates several of his favourite artists, including Motley Crue and Bullet for my Valentine.

Jennifer Griffiths, 15, used different effects, such as acrylic paint, to depict journeys to Africa, Italy and Egypt.

Teacher Anne Scrine said: “Following the huge success of previous years, this will be the school’s third annual art exhibition. The event has become an important date in the school calendar and we can’t wait to share pupils’ outstanding artwork with a wider audience.”

The exhibition will be open to invited guests only on Thursday (25 June), and to the general public at the school’s summer fete on Saturday 27 June.
