Bowled Over by Pottery Project

Daring young designers at Manor House School will be bowled over when they get the chance to work with a ceramics expert.
Pupils will design and decorate their own bowls, with the help of ceramicist Joanna Hartrup, who has a workshop at the Ferrers Centre, near Ashby.
The school’s youngest pupils, aged five to seven, will use paints, stencils and sponges to create personalised bowls.
This is the second year that Ms Hartrup has visited the school. In 2008, the pupils decorated plates.
Teacher Mrs Angela Taylor said: “Last year’s workshop was a huge success. The children were able to experiment with designs and techniques and were thrilled with their finished plates. Now they will have a bowl to add to their collection.”
The plates will be glazed and fired by Ms Hartrup, before being returned to the children, ready for use.
The workshop will take place on Tuesday 29 September.
