Artefacts and Anecdotes Shed Light on World War
News article submitted on 1st July 2010, 13:50

Carillon towerArtefacts and anecdotes helped pupils to get to grips with their World War Two studies during a visit to Charnwood Museum at Loughborough.

The pupils, from M2, were given a guided tour of the museum and looked at its collection of wartime exhibits.

The pupils also visited Loughborough’s Carillon War Memorial for a guided tour by war veterans.

They explored the memorial’s three floors of military exhibits and climbed to the top of the Carillon tower for a closer look at its impressive bells.

Teacher Mrs Fiona Millington-Pipe said: “The visit was a great opportunity for the children to see some World War Two exhibits at first hand and to meet veterans who were able to tell them about life in wartime.”
