Drama Club – Please note Mrs. Hunt will keep pre-prep
pupils from 3.00 to 4.00 on Tuesday 2nd March to
compensate for the session cancelled before half-term. M
and S forms pupils will have a longer lesson from 3.30 to
5.00 on Tuesday 2nd and Tuesday 9th March.
What’s cooking, kids?????????????? We raised almost £300
for Haiti! We’d like to thank Jordan, Joe, Verity, Jake,
Daniel, Harkiran and Holly from S4 and Catherine and Katie
from S3 for organising and serving our ‘hotdogs for Haiti
lunch’. Well done. We’d also like to thank Mrs. Hawkins
and the ladies in the kitchen for lending their support
and expertise. What will be our next culinary
experience, gang?
HPV vaccination – The vaccination will take place on
Thursday 4th March at 10.00 a.m. after the GCSE Science
module for S5.
Friends of MHS: The focus for all of our events this year
is the purchase of a laptop for use by every S4 and S5
pupil. All GCSE coursework will now need to be completed
at school which necessitates use of these valuable
tools.
Caribbean Disco – Saturday 6th March -
12.30 to 3.30 p.m. – Cost £5.00. We’ve had a good
response to this offer. Are there anymore takers? We
still have tickets. There will also be a tuck shop with
popcorn and sweets, so make sure your child has plenty of
pocket money to buy some extra-special treats! Mums and
dads, you like sweets too- you know you do!
Mothers’ Day Gift problems solved!!!!!!!!!!!!! BUY A TREE
TOWEL! She’ll be eternally grateful! They are on sale
in the office for £5.00.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids- Ready, steady, staaaaaaaaaaaaaart
shopping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Active Kids’ vouchers will be
available 17th February-8th June.
Picking cherries? Nooooooooooo hanging up Mr. Clews bird
box! We have a bird box with a live video feed a la
Spring Watch. Does anyone have access to a cherry picker
so that we can hang it up? Please contact the school
office if you can help.

desk.
School Play- There will be a rehearsal on Mondays We
need all of M3 and M4, plus any members of M1 and M2 who
would like a small acting role. (All of the M Forms will
sing in the choir).

TB Vaccinations- These are no longer available routinely
via the National Health. Please contact your GP should
you want your child vaccinated. The cost is minimal, but
the protection is essential.

after school. Should you give your child permission to
leave the premises, we must know. This is a serious
safety issue.
Collecting children- Please do not ask pupils to wait for
you in the car park after school. All children must either
report to prep or the Orangery. Their safety is our

What’s cooking, kids??????????????
On Wednesday, 24th February, some pupils from S4 & S5 are
going to cook the school lunches with Mrs. Hawkins. Each
meal will include a hotdog, burger or sandwich with jelly
and ice cream. Tickets cost £2. All tickets should be
purchased by Monday, 22nd please. All the profits are
going towards the Haiti Charity Appeal. Please support
us in this charity event. Thank you.

March. Come and swing and sway and fill your stomachs with

More Sport
Swimming
All M form pupils will be swimming for 7/8 weeks after
half-term.
Kg&J1 will be swimming for 15 sessions.
Inter-House Tournaments
Bench Ball
Senior Girls (S1,S2,S3) bench ball tournament was a keenly
fought contest with Woodcock and Ivanhoe drawing in first
place with 23 points each. Hastings scored 11 points.
Hockey
Senior Girls’ (S1,S2,S3) hockey tournament will take place
the 1st Tuesday back after half-term- Feb. 23rd.
Football
Senior Boys’ (S1,S2,S3) football tournament will take
place 1st Tuesday back after half term- Feb. 23rd.
Rugby
Senior Boys’ (S1,S2,S3) rugby tournament – to follow on.
Netball
Senior Girls’ (S1,S2,S3) netball tournament- to follow on.
During the cold weather please make sure your children
have their full tracksuit, navy outdoor coat, hats and
gloves so that we can keep warm whilst doing sport outside.
Make pot washing fun- buy a tree towel. We plan to plant
our part of the National Forest in March. Please help us
to increase our contribution by purchasing a Tree towel.
They are on sale in the office for £5.00.
Farmers’ Market – The next market is on Saturday 20th
February. If you would like to help on the indoor
refreshment stall for a maximum of an hour, please sign
the appropriate time-slot on the notice in the entrance
hall, by next Wednesday 10th February. Please note all
profits from the refreshments and bric-a-brac stall are
used to buy extra things for the children.

Rotary Aqua Box – all forms |

Hats for Haiti! Next Friday, we will be
having a ‘wear your hat’ day. Please send in a minimum
donation of a £1 to show off your finest head-gear.
Crunch a crisp for crisis- We will be having a crispy
break time next Wednesday. Packets of crisps will be on
sale for a 50p donation. A larger donation may be made.
There will only be one pack per child available.
Shelter Boxes- We’ve had some exciting news:
The first Shelter Boxes have arrived in Port au Prince and
hundreds more are due to arrive later today. Ours was
amongst them! Rotary has asked if we would support them
in filling another of these boxes- they are desperately
needed in Haiti and they also need to re-build stocks
should shelter boxes be needed in another part of the
world. We’ll be collecting Please see the list
Trees- MHS copse is growing! We now have 119 trees.
How is your crystal looking? Make it glow by polishing
your glasses with our tree towels. Tree towels cost £5
and are available in the school office.
Farmers’ Market – Thank you to those parents who helped or
bought things from our school stall. The next market is
on Saturday 20th February. If you would like to help on
the indoor refreshment stall for a maximum of an hour,
please let Miss Russell know (9.a.m – 2.00 p.m.)
Fees- Please pay your fees or you will incur a penalty
charge after Monday.

The newly reformed student council have had some very
productive meetings over the past few weeks. There have
been many great suggestions made by the children of MHS.

Are your pots dry? Tree towels are the ideal way to ensure
they are! See your child’s form teacher or Miss Russell
if you would like one.
Winter weather- The snow is disappearing, but the weather
is cold!!!!! Please ensure your child is well-equipped
for this by sending in appropriate outdoor weather.

Tree Towels- The tree towels are still for sale. See your
child’s form teacher or Miss Russell if you would like one
