Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE)

'The quality of the pupils' personal development is excellent...The PSHE programme makes a substantial contribution to the pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development. Pupils are polite and friendly and show a high degree of respect.' - ISI Report, 2014

Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) helps to equip children and young people with the knowledge and skills they need to deal with a range of issues as they grow up.

To this end, PSHE lessons cover drug and alcohol education (for Senior pupils), emotional health and well-being, sex and relationship education (for Senior pupils), nutrition and physical activity, personal finance, safety, careers information, and work-related learning.

PSHE is taught holistically throughout the curriculum.  It is also taught through daily assemblies and weekly visits to church. In line with DofE guidelines there are sessions on radicalisation and terrorism, whilst other specific areas like personal goal setting and  self-confidence are explored through carefully planned sessions.

'A well-structured scheme of work in PSHE gives pupils good opportunities to consider relevant topics in the Senior department and decision-making in the Junior department' - ISI Report, 2014
